Galle Born Cricekter Kamindu Mendis has been named as Sri Lanka Captain for the upcoming under 19 world cup 2018 which will be held in New Zealand from the 13th January. Mendis who is all-rounder ambidextrous cricketer as he bowls left arm spin and off spin bowling as well as very usefull batsman.
Kamindu Mendis Who also played in the previous edition of the Under-19 World Cup in 2016 where he scored 156 runs and also took a five wickets in the competition.
Apart of the him Ashen Bandara who has been average of 31 and also topped performance in under 19 asia cup along with praveena jayawickrama left arm spinners are the key players of the sri lanka 15 men squad.
Sri Lanka u19 cricket team who is included in the Group D along with Afghanistan, Pakistan and Ireland. Team will be starting the u19 world cup campaign by playing the first game against Ireland and then after against afghanistan on 17th january and 19 january against Pakistan.
